Why In Pain By Vancouver Chiropractor

By Dr. Peter Ting

Believe it or not, our body consists of more than 200 bones? These bones form the framework of the skeletal system. Did you know movement occurs where two bones meet together at a joint? Joint movement is essential to body motion that can occur at the hips, elbows, and shoulders. Then, what has this to do with the pain or the Science of Chiropractic? Vancouver chiropractor Dr. peter Ting is exploring these with you.

In chiropractic, we believe proper joint functions are crucial to a pain free life and healthy life. If the spinal bones are misaligned enough, it can cause pressure on the nerves that come out between them. In chiropractic we call such conditions, "subluxations". That may be a big word, but it is an important one for everyone to know.

A subluxation is a condition in which a spinal bone is out of alignment to irritate a nerve and interfere with that nerve's ability to transmit the message it is carrying, to whatever it goes. If the nerve goes to your stomach, the stomach doesn't know what to do, so it malfunctions. If it goes down your leg, you get leg pain. If it goes to your lungs, you get asthma or bronchitis or any host of conditions affecting the area being deprived of its nerve supply. It's really simplenerves control function! Block the nerves in any way and that part stops functioning normally.

Adverse consequences from "subluxations" could involve different conditions with different parts of the body. For instance, muscle weakness and tightness; inflamed discs, ligaments, or other connective tissue; bone spurs and arthritic degeneration.
