Breathe Your Aches Away!

By Kimberlee Cusumano

Have your ever experienced a time when you're going through various aches in your body and at the same time, feeling a certain imbalance in your life? And you know that the aches you feel are more than just physical. If so, then maybe you should try to dig deeper in your senses and experience the healing powers of Reiki.

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique to relieve the body from stress and create a better flow of energy. Its purpose is to create less tension in the body and even promote healing. This technique aims to treat the whole body of the person; this includes one's emotion, mind and spirit. A creation of wholeness carries along many benefits because there is a feeling of peace inside and less body aches outside. Reiki has a way of thinking that if an individual's "life force energy" is high, then we are more capable of being normal and healthy and also develop a feeling of happiness rather than having a low "life force energy" that explains our stress and body pain.

The reiki technique is about relaxing your body, creating inner peace that will reflect outward and make us healthier. There are simpler forms of understanding this, for example the concept of meditation, where in a person is taught how to handle hectic situations, one for is by applying Zazen and Vipassana meditation, this concentrates on posture or formal sitting, it elaborates on simple breathing exercises to keep one's body still and their attention focused mainly on breathing. The wanted effect is for the mind to clear out of all stress and process problems one at a time causing the body to be more relaxed. This also applies in other meditation approaches, like setting our body free and creating a positive outlook to reduce tension and stress.

The most common form of getting rid of stress maybe known through massage, in this form a person starts to heal on the outside and moves deeper inside until all the stress is completely gone. A massage slowly terminates the tension in the body be applying pressure to it, the muscles are relax and the person starts to unwind. This leads to the person feeling better and thus thinking better as well, because stress is often related to fatigue, a good massage will find ways to eliminate fatigue and create a better, healthier feel.

Since massage involves putting pressure in certain areas of the body, it also needs careful and cautious movements since too much pressure may cause even more pain, which is why people should consult a massage therapist. A massage therapist is someone who is well educated on what joints and pressure points need a certain level of pressure and how to apply it. This would ensure a greater chance of healing and prevent even worse cases of tension.

There are countless ways on how to feel, look and think healthy, either by focusing on your muscle pains and start there which may lead to more relaxed mind, or starting on an optimistic view progressing to a better body and better comfort.
