Hemorrhoids Causes

Hemorrhoids are a common and very frustrating problem. A cold compress in some situations will also help treat the discomfort that hemorrhoids causes. Cold compression therapy generally requires applying a cold pad or ice pack to the inflicted area for twenty minutes every two hours. Cold compression has been shown to reduce the swelling caused by hemorrhoids and will help speed up the recovery process.

Over-the-counter treatment options for hemorrhoids include topical creams, suppositories, stool softeners and fiber. In mild cases, these treatments can be effective in providing temporary relief and allow the hemorrhoids to become less irritated. However, these methods to not address the root cause of hemorrhoids, and the problem is almost certain to reappear soon.

Natural treatments of an internal hemorrhoid include warm soaks, stool softeners, increased fiber intake and over the counter medicines. For the itching and burning symptoms, warm soaks can help in soothing and decreasing the inflammation. You'll want to do the soaks at least four or five times a day in plain bath water to achieve the full soothing affect.
