Hemmoroids - A Painful Condition And How To Cure It Naturally.

By Sandyie Grace

Inflamed blood vessels in or around the anus and rectum are called hemmoroids. They are not life endangering, however, they are distressing. Usually they will clear up in several days. But sometimes they don't. In this case, you should see a doctor.

The most common cause of having hemmoroids develop is by sitting for long periods of time. Sitting puts pressure on the veins in the rectum and anus, and is made worse if you are overweight. A hemroid is formed when too much pressure is place on the rectal region. This leads to the veins becoming inflamed and irritated. Excessive straining during bowel movements is another cause of hemmoroids forming.

Hypertension can also start the process and high blood pressure can exacerbate the problem. Pregnancy can lead to hypertension in some cases and also cause hemmoroids. Insufficient liquid intake and improper nutrition, especially low-fiber diets can cause hard stools, which are difficult to pass. This can cause irritation or damage to the rectal veins, and causes constipation, thus leading to a painful hemroid.

You can change your diet with a few simple steps that will help prevent a hemroid. Keeping well hydrated makes everything move smoothly, thus preventing constipation. Get enough fiber either from eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains or taking dietary supplements will also help. Staying in good overall health is also a great way to discourage hemmoroids from forming.

Being heavy and overweight can be a problem. By losing some weight, you can relieve or even prevent hemmoroids from forming. If you must sit for long periods of time for work, then it is recommended that you get up and stretch periodically. Its also recommended that you exercise regularly, not only to prevent a hemroid from developing, but just to be in good health. Many people forget these very basic things, even tho they seem to be common sense.

Performing Kegel exercises along with regular exercise can also prove beneficial in keeping hemmoroids away. Kegel exercises strengthen the pelvic floor muscles as well as flex them. Strengthening these muscles gives you better muscle tone as well as better circulation in the entire rectal region.

Another method of prevention of hemmoroids that is less well known and people may not consider adopting is using squat toilets. Most Western nations use seat toilets. This puts pressure on the rectal veins where a hemroid can form. Squat toilets put no pressure on these veins and the incidence of hemmoroids among people who use these toilets is extremely low.

Having a hemroid is very embarrassing, but usually heals in several days on their own. Bowel movements will be painful as well during this period, as the area is sore and irritated. You can prevent this by simply eating properly and avoiding undue straining. But please remember, if your hemmoroids become worse or does not heal within a week, contact your physician.
